Also in the following season 2000/01 Riise started as a regular player in the defense line of AS Monaco. Kurt Zouma was born in 1994 to immigrant parents from the Central African Republic in the capital of the French Rhône-Alpes. Bids for a move had come from several English Premier League clubs and Blackburn Rovers and Fulham FC made concrete efforts to secure Riise.
